Alexander Ovechkin looks to break his longest goal drought of the season, (a whole five games) tonight when the New York Rangers head to the Verizon Center.

Reebok Hockey is actually offering a reward for Sidney Crosby's missing Olympic hockey stick and gloves.  The gloves and stick went missing during the celebration following Crosby's "golden goal" and haven't been seen since.

**

Last night Nicklas Lidstrom earned his 800th career point in the Red Wings 5-2 win over the Nashville Predators.

**

Alex Ponikarovsky has been traded to Pittsburgh for Martin Skoula and minor leaguer Luca Caputi

**

One trade late last night, Anaheim forward Evgeny Artyukhin is sent to Atlanta for Nathan Oystrick and a conditional draft pick in next years draft.  Some size for Atlanta, a good move.

**

Andy Sutton is leaving Long Island and is headed to Ottawa, for a second round draft pick.  Not sure about this move, it does not help them right now.

**

Rangers' superstar is apparently hurt a little more than thought and he will not play tonight.

**

In another interesting move the Atlanta Thrashers have formally signed Chris Chellios.  I ask .. WHY?

**

lots more to come

Monday March 1, 2010

**

Two trades so far... Jordan Leopold to Pittsburgh, with a second round pick going to Florida, and Oilers D-man Grebeshkov is sent to Nashville for a second rounder.

**

This creates an interesting situation in Pittsburgh.  They now have 7 NHL caliber defensemen and will most likely be unloading one.  There have been reports all day, with each current Penguins blue-liner being named.  That includes Sergei Gonchar whos deal is up after this season and he has stopped negotiating an extension with GM Ray Shero today.

**

Rick DiPietro is out indefinitely with what is being reported as swelling in his knee.  This just in...Garth Snow just smacked his head and said are you F*&^%%& kidding me!! (kidding).

**

More people watched the Gold Medal Olympic Hockey game yesterday in the USA than the Yankee's World Series clinching game against Philadelphia.  (17.6 rating compared to 13.4 rating)

More as it is reported

Sunday February 28, 2010

**

All eyes are on Vancouver today with the USA facing off against Canada for the Gold Medal at 3PM est.

**

Remember that tonight at midnight the trade freeze on the NHL is lifted with just under three days until the trade deadline.  Expect at least one trade to be made right at the stroke of midnight.  This trade will probably involve Boston.

More after the game...
