While I continue to create this site I think it is important that I explain part of the reason that I love the game of hockey so much. I am a goalie and those who know me know that if there is ice time available somewhere, I am on it. About five years ago I was asked to cover for a goalie who could not make his men's league game. I lost that game 4-3 but played well and after the game the team explained that they actually had no goalie and asked me to play full time and I agreed. This team, The Bombers, is a huge reason for me continuing to love hockey as much as I do. This is a team that has been around since 1993 and has played in multiple rinks in central and northern New Jersey. The team has enjoyed some success winning seven championships in its history, two of which I had the privilege of being a part of.
The term that gets thrown around a lot in the Bomber locker room is, "Thats Bomber Hockey". What is that you ask? In my own words it is the ability to play hockey with a great bunch of guys and whether we win by 2 or lose by 11 we have a good time. Some teams will bring in "ringers" but that is not the Bomber way, we are more concerned about getting along as a group. As I look back on my five years as a Bomber, I am glad I took the offer to be the full time goalie of the most storied franchise in adult men's league hockey history and look forward to many years to come.
